Do I need to take care of my visa before I travel to Indonesia?

Depends. Visa on Arrival is available for nationals of more than 60 countries at 15 airports or 21 sea ports designated as ‘International Gateways’ (see list below). If you arrive at an air- or seaport with no immigration facilities (for example Banda Aceh) or you want to stay longer than 30 days then you need to get you visa before you depart (embassy). You will need 2 passport photos and your passport must be valid for at least 6 months upon entering Indonesia.
